Environmental Education Center Programs

September 19 to 25, 2016

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

PARENT/CHILD PROGRAMS

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS

Delaware and Raritan Canal Paddle

Tuesday, September 20 from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Paddlers will enjoy a relaxing trip along the quiet and still Canal, enjoying

the sights and sounds of this hidden gem of Somerset County.

Fee is $60 per person.

Hawkwatch @ Chimney Rock – NEW! – FREE PROGRAM

Saturday, September 24 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

Sunday, September 25 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

Join a Naturalist and a Park ranger at Washington Valley Park Hawk

Watch in Bridgewater to witness thousands of hawks, falcons, and

eagles flying overhead while learning about the different types of

raptors.

Family Nature Walk – FREE PROGRAM

Saturday, September 24 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

Family and friends will enjoy a Naturalist-led interpretive walk

through the Great Swamp.

The program is free and pre-registration is not required.

Insects and Camouflage - FREE

Saturday, September 24 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Diane Crawley from the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Somerset County

will present a family-friendly program on insects ands their use of

camouflage in nature.

Program is free.
