Environmental Education Center Programs

September 26 to October 2

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

CHILDREN & TEEN PROGRAMS

The Green Team – FREE PROGRAM

Saturday, October 1 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

Children ages 12 to 15 - Is natural science a subject you find interesting?

Find out what's happening in Basking Ridgefor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Do you like the outdoors? Is the Great Swamp a place you like to

visit? If so, join the Environmental Education Center Naturalists

and contribute your talents to fun and educational projects and

special events.

Pre-registration is required.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS

Trenton Marsh Meander

Monday, September 26 from 7:30 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Paddlers will enjoy a day trip through the Trenton-Hamilton Marsh, a

large expanse of woodlands, tidal marsh and streams. Trip will

include a hike at Roebling Park and a paddle to the

Bordentown Beach.

Fee is $75 per person.

Hawk Watch Hike at the EEC– FREE PROGRAM

Wednesday, September 28 from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Family and friends of all ages will join a Naturalist to hike the trails of the

Great Swamp with an eye out for migrating birds of prey.

The program is free. Pre-registration is required.

Family Nature Walk – FREE PROGRAM

Saturday, October 1 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

Family and friends will enjoy a Naturalist-led interpretive walk

through the Great Swamp.

The program is free and pre-registration is not required.

Apple Tasting

Saturday, October 1 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

Family and friends of all ages will join a Naturalist to learn all about the

apple, tasting a variety of local and specialty varieties.

Fee is $9 per person.
