Environmental Education Center Programs

October 24 to 30, 2016

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

CHILDREN & TEEN PROGRAMS

The Green Team – FREE PROGRAM

Saturday, October 29 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Children ages 12 to 15 - Is natural science a subject you find interesting?

Find out what's happening in Basking Ridgefor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Do you like the outdoors? Is the Great Swamp a place you like to

visit? If so, join the Environmental Education Center Naturalists

and contribute your talents to fun and educational projects and

special events.

Pre-registration is required.

PARENT/CHILD PROGRAMS

Frankenstein’s Little Monster

Friday, October 28 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

Children age infant to 5 with a parent will learn about nature’s cool and

kooky animal adaptations including why some have spikes and

some sport bright colors.

Fee is $10 per pair and $5 per additional child.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS

West Jersey Birding

Tuesday, October 25 from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Adult birders will join a Naturalist for a day trip to some of New Jersey’s best spots for bird watching.

Fee is $50 per adult and $40 per senior.

Family Nature Walk – FREE PROGRAM

Saturday, October 29 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

Family and friends will enjoy a Naturalist-led interpretive walk

through the Great Swamp.

The program is free and pre-registration is not required.

Animal Masks

Saturday, October 29 from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.

Family and friends of all ages will join a Naturalist and make an animal

mask to wear just in time for Halloween.

Fee is $9 per person.

Delaware and Raritan Canal Paddle

Sunday, October 30 from 9:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.

Paddlers will enjoy a relaxing trip along the quiet and still Canal, enjoying

the sights and sounds of this hidden gem of Somerset County.

Fee is $60 per person.
