Escape to a (Basking Ridge) Island This Month

Bamboo Grille holding specials through March for seafood to summon the feel of summer.

Still cold and wet? Looking for something to do on those nights (or days) when you can find a babysitter and take a little time for yourself with spouse or friends?

This week, the Basking Ridge Patch notes through the month of March, those who want a little bit of an island (and summer) feel can head on over to the for some of both.

The Bamboo Grille, located within the Basking Ridge Country Club at 185 Madisonville Road, already has an island theme in both its decor and some of the items on the menu. In warm months, the restaurant has an outdoor patio with a tiki bar.

From January through March, however, the restaurant has been offering seafood specials on days it is open (Tuesday through Saturday), said Jack Welch, a principal at the Bamboo Grille.

The specials include lobster or surf and turf for $20 each, or king crab legs for $25, Welch said.

"It's a very summery dish," Welsh said of the lobster special, and other seafood specials. However, those items often are harder to find in the winter, he noted.

The menu is online.
