Fire Engulfs Deck, Pool House In Somerset County

Bernardsville Firefighters worked quickly to stop the fire from spreading to the home on Wednesday night.

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — Firefighters battled a fully involved deck and pool house fire on Wednesday night in Bernardsville.

On May 31 at around 5:15 p.m., Bernardsville Fire Company No. 1 & First Aid Squad were called to a reported structure fire on Douglas Avenue.

Firefighters found a fully involved detached deck and pool house fire when they arrived.

"Our crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control and prevent the fire from spreading to the residence," said Bernardsville Fire Co. No. 1 & First Aid Squad.

It took firefighters about an hour and a half to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is unknown at the moment as an inspector needs to determine it.

Mutual aid partners Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department and Liberty Corner Fire Company also helped.
