Flash Flood Watch In Effect For Somerset County
The heaviest rain is expected this afternoon and evening, including the afternoon commute.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A flash flood watch is in effect for Somerset County on Tuesday.
The watch, issued by the National Weather Service, is in effect through this evening as thunderstorms producing heavy rain could result in flash flooding across, along, and near the Interstate 95 corridor in New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania.
One to two inches of rain is expected, though locally higher amounts more than three inches are possible, according to the NWS.

The heaviest rain is expected this afternoon and evening, including the afternoon commute. Excessive rainfall within a short period of time can lead to rapidly rising water and flash flooding, particularly in urban areas and along small creeks and streams.

Today: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. High near 86. West wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely before midnight, then a slight chance of showers between midnight and 1 a.m. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 64. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
