Franklin Township To Hold Winterfest 2020

SOMERSET – Do you need a midwinter pick-me-up? Freeholder Director Shanel Y. Robinson invites residents to attend Winterfest 2020, on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Franklin Middle School, located at 415 Francis St., Somerset. The snow date is Feb. 1.

“This event will be a fun and free way for families to enjoy their Saturday,” said Freeholder Director Shanel Y. Robinson. “Residents also can learn about the 2020 Census and the benefits of participating in the survey.”

Brought to you by Somerset County, the United States Census Bureau and Franklin Middle School – Winterfest 2020 will be offering an interactive mix of fun, and information about valuable county programs, services and initiatives including the 2020 Census survey. This family event will feature games and activities for children, prize drawings, giveaways, free pizza and other tasty treats.

Adults will have the opportunity to connect with community service providers and gain information about transportation services, food assistance, social services, employment with the U.S. Census Bureau and other jobs, healthcare, housing and learn about the 2020 Census survey. Translators who are fluent in Chinese, Gujarati, and Spanish will also be available to assist residents.

Why is it critical for residents to participate in the census? Providing information to the once-a-decade census survey will help your community gain funding for programs such as emergency services, money for schools, affordable housing or new roads.

The U.S. Census Bureau serves as the leading provider of quality data by gathering current statistics about the population and its economy. The federal government is mandated to protect the confidentiality of every participant.
