Naturalist-led programs for children and adults offered Friday and Saturday

Basking Ridge, NJ -- Get back to nature tomorrow or Saturday in Basking Ridge with these activites hosted by the Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center.

  • Frosty Footprints Friday, Dec. 18 from 10:30. to 11:30 a.m.Children age infant to 5 and a parent will venture out to discover clues thatwill show where the animals have gone and what they are up to.   • Ready for Winter – A Stroll in the Park Friday, Dec. 18 from 4 to 5 p.m.Family and friends are invited to join a Naturalist on a stroll through LordStirling Park looking for winter birds and signs of the winter tocome.Fee is $6 per person.   • Christmas Bird Count – Free Saturday, Dec. 19 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adults are invited to learn basic birding techniques while collecting datafor the Environmental Education Center and the New Jersey Audubon Society, exploring the trails of Lord Stirling Park. Blue “BOBO (Buy One – Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch Park in Bridgewater. The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
