Gladstone Branch Rail Will Resume Service Thursday Afternoon

Breaking: Good news for evening commuters. Gladstone Branch rail service along the Morris & Essex Lines will resume at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

NJ Transit's Gladstone Branch rail service along the Morris & Essex Lines will resume full regularly schedule service beginning at around 12:30 p.m. Thursday following emergency repair work.

The line had been suspended since around 5 p.m. on Wednesday night, impacting the evening commute and into the Thursday morning commute as well.

The afternoon peak period ride home will have full regularly scheduled service originating in Penn Station New York and Hoboken making all scheduled stops, NJ Transit announced.

The first trains to operate on the Gladstone Branch are the following:

Westbound

  • Train #419, the 12:36 p.m. departure from Hoboken to Gladstone.

Eastbound

  • Train #424, the 12:53 p.m. departure from Gladstone to Hoboken.

Rail tickets and passes will continue to be cross-honored on Lakeland buses, including from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, for the remainder of the service day. Note that there will be limited seats available on the buses.

Gladstone passes and tickets continue to be cross honored on all NJ Transit Rail Lines and Bus Lines for the remainder of the service day.
