Gold Award Troop 1263 - Farm to families
Ridge Student Lucie Scaglione Gold award - Farm for Families

Farm to families is a project that was started as a Girl Scouts Gold Award. The goal of the project was to bring fresh produce to low income families in the area. This idea came to me early in 2016. I was thinking about how important eating healthy was to my family, but also how expensive it really was. At the time, my family was eating a low carb diet with lots of produce, but whenever I went grocery shopping with my parents, I was shocked to see a receipt for hundreds of dollars. "How can anyone afford to eat healthy?" I asked myself. Then it hit me that many less fortunate families most likely could not afford this and were forced to forgo a diet with fruits and vegetables, settling for cheaper but less healthy options. So, I dedicated this project to taking action to solve that issue one community at a time.
