Handmade Wooden Keepsake Honors Memory Of Historic Oak Tree

This keepsake is part of the Historic Somerset Hills Village Keepsake Collection which honors Basking Ridge's historic tree and church.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Have your own reminder of two of the Somerset Hills greatest historic icons.

A handmade wooden painted keepsake honoring the historic 1717 Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church and the 619-year-old historic oak tree is being released by the Historical Society of Somerset Hills and Cat's Meow Village Company.

This is the second keepsake released as part of THSSH's historic community collection, which celebrates the 90th anniversary of the founding of the first historical society in the area.

This the first keepsake honored the historic 1809 Brick Academy, home to The Historical Society of the Somerset Hills.

The church and tree keepsake is 4 and a half feet high by 8 feet high and 0.75 inches wide and is available online for $25, which goes to benefit the THSSH. To buy a keepsake click here.

The tree was cut down in April 2017 after it died over the summer in 2016 despite efforts of the church to preserve it.
