Henry Street Short Cuts is Readers' Choice for Kids Haircuts in Town
The name may have changed over the years, but the shop still is a favorite place to take children for haircuts in Basking Ridge.
Maybe it's the cheery staff, or because the shop seems to have always been around in one form or another in downtown Basking Ridge.
No matter what their reasons, more readers chose on Henry Street in the center of town than anywhere else for the best kids' haircuts in Basking Ridge.
"Love Henry Street Shortcuts!! Great people work there and great people go there!!" commented reader Amy Melick. "I bring my boys here for haircuts [when they get them :o) ] Always friendly and always available. BEST SALON EVER!!!"

Robin Baldwin wrote that, "Everyone who cuts hair here gives an amazing haircut and is VERY personable. Lots of friendly and smiling ladies in here, as well." She said the staff loves kids and offers childrens' books and a few toys to keep the little ones occupied if there is a wait."
And those who have brought their kids whether recently or in the past (when the shop was Shry's Mens Salon) will agree with Baldwin that, "Lollipops are always offered at the end of the haircut which is always a BIG hit with every age." Baldwin would not go anywhere else for her kids' haircuts.

Before moving to Henry Street about a decade ago, the shop was on South Finley Avenue, where it was named "Gentlemans' Hair Salon." But although ownership has been passed around during its history, each of the owners has been part of the original group, said stylist Leslie Davidson.
Hope M. wrote that she drives an hour from Wantage drives an hour from Wantage for kids cuts at Henry Street Short Cut "because THEY ARE JUST THAT GOOD!!"
The two stylists who were in the shop when presented with the Readers' Choice certificate for winning — Davidson and Danielle Monetti — said they thought it was "awesome" and "exciting" to be chosen as favorite by local readers.
In our poll, 46 (42 percent) of readers who responded in the poll chose Henry Street Short Cut. But an honorable mention should go to , which collected 35 (32 percent) of votes. One reader, Nick, said he likes Supercuts because the shop is the most affordable and has the best hours of operation, "plus my kids have loved all the cuts they've recieved there since their opening." Supercuts just opened at Riverwalk last July.
Hair Den in Bernardsville also received some favorable comments.
Next week's Readers' Choice poll will ask where you prefer to go to find Irish foods for St. Patrick's Day.
