How to Use Google In Your Job Search, Local Career Forum Discusses Internet Tools for Finding Employment
John DeBellis of About That Resume gave job search advice to the career forum group at the Somerset Hills YMCA.
"This is not your typical job market," said John DeBellis from the job search support service About That Resume. "For most, the job search is an excruciating process," says John.
Therefore, it is John's advice that a job seeker take ch arge of his or her own career search and become armed with a variety of creative tools to succeed in their efforts. John provided information and advice on some available tools at the February 16, 2010 meeting of the Somerset Hills YMCA Career Forum speaking on the topic "Google and Other Online Tools in the Job Search."
At the Career Forum meeting, John provided detailed information on how to use Google in your job search. Information and tips on how to utilize Google: (1) to gather information and leads and (2) to research a target company or employer was discussed. Instruction on how to use Google Alerts in a job search was also provided. Google Alerts can be used to receive regular alerts with information, happenings and events for individually selected job areas, potential employers and companies.

Further, John provided advice and instruction on other "Guerilla" job search tools. These tools include: (1) Indeed Alerts; (2) Oodle.com; (3) Twitter and (4) Zoominfo Profile.
By enrolling in Indeed, at www.indeed.com, a job seeker can receive information about pre-selected companies and jobs, which is similar to using Google Alerts. Oodle.com is a consolidated website of classified job ads. It can be customized for the job seeker's desired field and locality. Twitter is one of many social online networking tools that can be used in a job search. Finally, Zoominfo Profile, at www.zoominfo.com, is an online database of information about individuals. Zoominfo uses multiple web sources to generate profiles of people and networks.

John urges that individuals monitor, manage and control their online presence. John suggests using Zoominfo to see what's in your online presence. Further, John advises you "google" your name to see what Google reveals about you. John suggests you may be surprised.
