Invasive Plants & Insects Exhibit

February 11 to March 12 at the EEC

Ridge High School art students will present an exhibit, “Invaders: Invasive Plants & Insects,” at the Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge, New Jersey from Saturday, February 11 to Sunday, March 12, 2017.

The exhibit will be open 7 days a week from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. except Monday, February 13 and Monday, February 20, 2017. Admission is free.

The students researched and examined how invasive species can harm the ecosystem and created artwork based on their findings. The exhibit features drawings along side of inventive “Artist Books” and board games. The body of work explores the introduction, ecology, and environmental impact of invasive plants and insects now and in the future. A reception will be held on Thursday, February 16, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center is located within Lord Stirling Park, in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, and is nestled within 450 acres of the western portion of the Great Swamp Basin of the Passaic River. A swamp vivarium, and an environmentally based library are located within the Center itself.
