Kitchen Fire Damages Bernardsville Businesses

The fire ignited on Saturday inside Anthony's Pizza & Catering causing "fairly extensive" damage. The business is unsure if it will reopen.

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — A fire that impacted businesses in Bernardsville over the weekend has one owner questioning whether to reopen.

On Feb. 4 at 12:31 a.m., Bernardsville Fire Co. No. 1 & First Aid Squad were called to a report of an active fire in a local business on Claremont Road.

"Reaching the scene in minutes, the fire was quickly controlled and prevented from spreading," said the volunteer fire company.

Businesses such as Anthony's Pizza & Catering and Mino's cafe Breakfast and Lunch were both damaged.

Additionally, multiple residents living above the businesses were evacuated and evaluated by Bernardsville EMS crews, and all areas of the building were searched and ventilated.

The fire caused "fairly extensive" damage to Anthony's Pizza & Catering, according to the owners who said their plans of reopening moving forward are up in the air.

"Hoping this is just temporary but my gut tells me that maybe it's time to move on to another location. I'll keep you posted as decisions are made. In the meantime, thanks for your support over the last several years. Bernardsville Rocks!!" wrote the business.


Along with Bernardsville, the following emergency responders helped: Lyons VA Fire, Far Hills-Bedminster Fire, Liberty Corner Fire, Peacock-Gladstone Fire, Mendham Borough Fire, and Basking Ridge Fire and EMS.
