BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The new coronavirus outbreak in New Jersey and across the nation is having vast impacts in Basking Ridge, including the closure of schools and many businesses.

The number of cases of the illness caused by the virus, known as COVID-19, continue to rise and additional measures and closures continue to be announced.

As of Monday there are 22 total cases of COVID-19 virus. There are also a total of 349 cases in Somerset County as of Monday.

Gov. Phil Murphy said New Jersey saw it's largest one-day total of cases and deaths connected to the coronavirus outbreak on Monday. The numbers rose sharply after eight people died at a nursing home in New Jersey due to the coronavirus, officials announced on Monday. SCHOOLS

All schools in Bernards Township will remain closed through at least April 17 in response to the new coronavirus outbreak, state officials said. MORE.

To help those more vulnerable to the new coronavirus the Basking Ridge Stop & Shop will offer special shopping hours for those 60 and above or those with underlying health conditions. MORE.
