Local Dance Studio Hosts an Interactive Dance Festival

A dance festival in color, light and sound for families in central NJ on July 16th starting at 3:00 pm in Hillsborough

A Midsummer Night’s Dance

A dance adventure that lights up the night, The Midsummer Night’s Dance festival includes family friendly performances, workshops and activities for children ages 3 and older. It’s like a laser light show meets Burning Man for kids. Hosted by The Dance Connection Arts Center at 1 Jill Court, in Hillsborough, NJ on July 16th, starting at 3:00 p.m. Families can RSVP their spot at MidsummerNightsDance.com

The centerpiece of the festival is a dance performance called Cleo. In Cleo Dance Connection dancers tell the story of a smart independent young girl who takes a magical journey to a land where everyone is made of pure light. The audience sit’s in the center of the performance space and the action happens all around them. It’s an interactive performance where the audience helps Cleo through her adventure by discovering items in the performance space and using little mirrors to direct streams of light throughout the show.

As part of the midsummer night’s dance festival visitors are invited to create a craft or take a workshop. For young children ages 3-5, there’s the firefly princess adventure. Children ages 7 and older can learn how to use a glow wand. The glow wand is a magicians wand that seemingly levitates below your hand like magic. There will also be crafts and interactive artwork. All activities center around one question. What evening adventures happen when you combine the brilliance of light and sound with the excitement of dance?

“A Midsummer Nights Dance" is hosted by The Dance Connection of Hillsborough. The Dance Connection is an arts center that has been bringing dance to central New Jersey for over a decade. “We love combining dance with other art forms to tell stories. Throughout the year we present several dance performances, including The Nutcracker, The Circus Dance Festival and The Spring Princess Ball” Says founder and director, David Kieffer. “The Midsummer Nights Dance Festival is about things that light up the night: stars, fireflies etc. All of us have an inner child that loves to twirl beneath the stars or dance into the colored lights.”

The Dance Connection teaches Jazz, Hip-hop, Ballet and little dancers ages 3 and older. The Dance Connection also presents a Nutcracker each year and a Circus Dance Festival. Teaching dance for kids in Somerset, Hillsborough and Montgomery townships.
