Lunar New Year To Be Celebrated In Basking Ridge

The Fabric of Bernards will host its first event celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year on March 14.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Fabric of Bernards will host its first event celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year on March 14.

Chinese Americans from Bernards Township, members of Basking Ridge ALYUS branch and Ridge High School Chinese Culture Club will present the history, culture, and traditions in celebrating Lunar New Year.

Those celebrating this event include people from Asian countries such as China, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malesia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and more.

The celebration usually includes parades, parties, food, costumes, music, dance, art, and decoration.

The multi-media presentation will be held on March 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Warren Craft Meeting Room at the Municipal Building at 1 Collyer Lane, Basking Ridge.

The Fabric of Bernards program was launched by the township committee last month to make Basking Ridge a more inclusive place. It replaces the Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Read More: New Program To Help Make Bernards Twp. 'A More Inclusive Place'

"The Fabric of Bernards" will focus on educational and cultural programming throughout this year to foster unity and a sense of community, said Committee member Jennifer Asay at the Jan. 26 meeting.
