Man Hit, Killed By Train In Basking Ridge
The fatal crash involving the Gladstone Branch train 723 on the Morris & Essex Line occurred on Saturday afternoon.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A man was fatally hit by a train in Basking Ridge on Saturday afternoon.
The Gladstone Branch train 723 on the Morris & Essex Line had left Summit at 12:14 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Gladstone at 2:08 p.m. before it hit and fatally injured the adult man at around 1:45 p.m. in Basking Ridge, said NJ Transit Spokesman Evertt Merrill.
There were no reported injuries to the one customer and crew members on board, said Merrill.

As a result, the Gladstone rail service was temporarily suspended between Stirling and Bernardsville on the Gladstone Branch. NJ Transit buses were offered to impacted customers.
New Jersey Transit Police were on scene leading the investigation.
