S.T.E.M. day at Mount Prospect Elementary School.

Mount Prospect School held their first annual S.T.E.M. Day on Friday, April 27th. The school had twenty two different parent and teacher presentations in the area of science, technology, engineering and math. Each class had a chance to visit 4 different presentations throughout the day. There will be events such as structure building, coding, astro rockets, drawing bots, chemical reactions, robotics, programming, amazing flying machines and learning about the pharmaceutical industry.

In addition, The Bernards Township Shade Tree Commission will celebrate Arbor Day again with Mount Prospect School’s students. Arbor Day is on Friday, April 27th this year. The Shade Tree Commission will provide White Pine seedlings to students during an assembly at the school. During the assembly, students would read the 2018 Bernards Township Resolution proclaiming April 27th as Arbor Day in Bernards Township. Also, a Shade Tree representative would discuss some high level information about the importance of trees in protecting our environment.

Then in the evening, our fourth and fifth grade students presented and discussed their S.T.E.M. fair projects at our annual Student Stem Fair. The school’s gymnasium was filled with future scientists enlightening the audience with their hypotheses and results. A team of Mount Prospect School’s teachers met with students several times to discuss their projects and offer feedback on how to design their experiments.
