New Bernards Police Officer Appointed

The Bernards Township Committee passed a resolution Tuesday to accept the appointment of Gregory Gengaro.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A new police officer was hired into the Bernards Township Police Department.

The Bernards Township Committee unanimously approved the appointment of Gregory Gengaro of Stewartsville on Tuesday night.

Gengaro is filling a vacant full-time position as Police Officer following a retirement, according to the resolution.

Gengaro is a graduate of Phillipsburg High School. Post-graduation he attended college at Gwynedd Mercy University, in Ambler, PA where he was a four-year member of the men’s D3 soccer team.

Gengaro ultimately graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. He then enlisted in US Army serving honorably for 6 years in the prestigious 82nd Airborne Division.

During Gengaro’s time in the 82nd Airborne, he served in many capacities including Infantryman, Radar Operator, Team and Section Chief and Platoon Sergeant.

Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Gengaro began law enforcement training at the Morris County Police Academy.

Gengaro is expected to graduate from the Academy in May. He will then be sworn in as a Bernards Township Officer effective Monday, June 5 at an annual salary of $49,992, according to the resolution.
