New Library Director Appointed In Bernards Township

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A new director for Bernards Township Library has been appointed to fill a vacancy from a resignation.

Rachel Burt was formally appointed as Library Director by the Bernards Township Committee at the Tuesday night meeting. Her start date will be Sept. 19 and she will have an annual salary of $110,000 for a 40-hour work week.

"She is an exceptional choice with extensive library and leadership experience. We take considerable pride in our library. It is a jewel that is a hub of Bernards community life. Rachel will be an asset in building on our current successes and helping the library best meet the future needs of the community," said Committeewoman Janice Fields at the Tuesday meeting.

The Bernards Township Library is open 64 hours a week, has almost 17,000 registered users, over 140,000 physical items and loaned 409,636 items in 2018, according to bernardslibrary.org.

The library is located at 32 South Maple Avenue, Basking Ridge.
