NEW History Partnership Program Grant Available

The Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission has been designated as the official county agency to administer the New Jersey Historical Commission’s State/County History Partnership Program grant for Somerset County.

Applications from Somerset County-based non-profit history and heritage organizations, as well as libraries, municipalities and other non-profit organizations in Somerset County, are being accepted. Grant funding is available for local or New Jersey history programs that are accessible to the general public or for general operating support for the 2017 calendar year.

Funding is competitive and organizations must demonstrate managerial competency, fiscal stability, excellence in history programming and organizational capacity to execute the proposed program or project.

Applicants are required to provide a match for funding requested. Funding may be requested for general operating support if the organization’s mission is solely history-dedicated, or special project support for the purpose of offering a specific history program/event/series in Somerset County.

A brief letter of intent is due by Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, to the SCC&HC as a preliminary requirement of the grants process, in which the potential applicant states on their letterhead in a paragraph or two the purpose for which the organization intends to apply for funding, and approximately how much money will be requested.

The grant application deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2016. Applications may be dropped off or mailed to the SCC&HC office at 20 Grove St., Somerville, NJ 08876. Mailed submissions must be received by the deadline. Electronic submissions will not be accepted.
