New Menswear Shop Opened By Basking Ridge Sisters As Nod To Dad's Stylish Fashion
Rachel and Morgan Colwell opened Hans Clothier in Far Hills offering brands such as Faherty, Barbour, Pendleton, Rhone, and Sid Mashburn.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Inspired by their father's stylish fashion, Basking Ridge sisters Rachel and Morgan Colwell have teamed up to open a menswear shop called Hans Clothier at 49 Route 202 in Far Hills.
Even the shop name, is a nod to Eric Colwell who has a middle name of Hans and the opening date was held on his birthday.
"Our dad really inspired us. He dresses really well but is also outdoorsy and farms on the weekend," said Rachel Colwell. "Our clothing is inspired by something he would wear."

The Colwell family had grown up in Basking Ridge near Oak Street School. Both Rachel and Morgan graduated Ridge High School and both went to Marist College and worked in fashion.
"We are like twins but not. We follow each other in different ways," said Colwell.

After working at Barbour and promoting wholesale products to boutiques, they wanted to pursue their dreams of opening a men's store instead.
"We always wanted to open our own business but it was not the right time," said Colwell. "You never really know when the timing is right. At end of the day you have to do something you really love."
The sisters noticed there was a lack of options for men in the area.
"There are not really any menswear shops in the area," said Colwell.
The sisters found the shop in Far Hills and "got the best feeling" from the location, which sits across from Moorland Farms.
Hans Clothier offers a little more of an outdoorsy flair rather than suits.
"We focus more on casual, flannel, denim, and leisure. We do have a couple of suit jackets but it is really a small section of the store," said Colwell. "A lot of guys are working from home and many come in for a shirt to wear out to dinner."
The shop carries mostly casual brands such as Faherty, Barbour, Pendleton, Rhone, Sid Mashburn and many others.
