NJ Transit's Gladstone Branch Weekend Trains Replaced By Buses Through Oct. 10

NJ Transit riders on the Gladstone Branch will need to plan for bus service on weekends through Oct. 10.

Lakeland buses will replace trains on the line on Saturdays and Sundays to support infrastructure work along the route.

According to NJ Transit, the projects include tree trimming along the line, station roof repairs and electrical improvements.

The service change affects weekend travel only. NJ Transit reported that weekday rail service will resume Monday mornings following each weekend outage.

The agency also said eastbound buses traveling toward Summit will run up to 22 minutes earlier than normal train times.

The last train to operate before the first outage begins is Train 453, departing Hoboken at 11:56 p.m. Friday night.

Service resumes Monday morning with Train 400, the 4:27 a.m. departure from Gladstone.

Bus boarding locations will vary by station.

In Gladstone, buses will board in the parking area at the station building.

In Peapack, the stop will be on Route 512 and Holland Avenue, while Far Hills riders will board on Route 202 near the station entrance.

In Bernardsville, buses will stop on Route 202, also known as Mine Brook Road, and in Basking Ridge they will board on North Finley Avenue at Ridge Street.

Buses will also serve Lyons from the station parking lot at the archway, Millington from the intersection of Division Street and Long Hill Road near the station building, and Stirling from Central Avenue at the station driveway.

Gillette riders will board on Mountain Avenue near the parking lot entrance and railroad crossing, Berkeley Heights riders on Springfield Avenue at Plainfield Avenue, Murray Hill riders on Foley Place near the station building, and New Providence riders on Springfield Avenue at Passaic Avenue near the supermarket.

In Summit, buses will board at Railroad Place at the station building, using the exit near the ticket office and restrooms.

NJ Transit noted that inbound and outbound bus stop locations differ slightly at certain stations and advised riders to check bus stop signs for details.
