Park Commission Adult Wellness Series Dates Announced
Program sponsored by Whole Foods Bridgewater

Applying funds donated by Whole Foods in Bridgewater, New Jersey, the Somerset County Park Foundation and the Somerset County Park Commission will present a brand new program series for adults.
Beginning in October, the Wellness Program Series, coordinated by the Recreation and Science Departments, will be free to the public and will feature one health-enhancing program each month at various park locations. Topics are expected to include nature play, horticultural therapy, nutrition, meditation, self defense, and aerobic exercise. Information is available at www.somersetcountyparks.org.

Playing outdoors and spending time in nature are key to a child’s physical and mental health. This free program will provide information on the outdoorsy parenting culture of Scandinavia, and how it can help raise healthy, resilient, and happy children in the U.S. Linda Åkeson McGurk, author of There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather, will share the latest research on nature play and tips for creating a daily outdoor habit and getting kids outside every day, rain or shine. Twenty-five participants will receive an autographed copy of her book. Children age 3 and older are welcome to join a Naturalist for an evening hike while parent or guardian attends the program. Pre-registration is not required.
Holiday Survival

Amy Napoli of Balanced Healthy Self will present a Holiday Survival Workshop focused on tips and strategies for a healthy holiday season.
Herbal Spa Workshop
Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road, Basking Ridge, NJ
This workshop will focus on making aromatherapy spa products. Horticultural Therapist, Pat Czarnecki will discuss techniques and instructions to create an all-natural facial toner, scented skin moisturizer, and a soothing herbal foot soak for gift giving or personal use.
