Peter Tang’s Chinese Ensemble will perform traditional melodies and popular folk songs using native Asian instruments, including the PiPa (Guitar), YangQing (Dulcimer), Erhu (Chinese violin) and GuZheng (Zithers). A native of China, Tang now lives in Philadelphia, where he is following in the footsteps of his father, Yu Bin Tang, a prestigious Chinese classical musician. The ensemble’s goal is to present and to preserve the traditional and contemporary Chinese musical arts with indigenous instruments to promote greater cultural understanding and enjoyment. The ensemble has performed for the Philadelphia Orchestra in Verizon Hall, at Pennsylvania Longwood Gardens’ Annual Chrysanthemum Festival, for the Philadelphia Tourism Marketing: Voices of Chinatown Program, Musiccopia ‘s Chinese music and dance program, Rowan University, and Penn State University.
The farmhouse is wheelchair accessible. Anyone anticipating the need for additional accessibility services is requested to make a request by sending an e-mail to the farmsteadartscenter@gmail.com in advance.
