The National Weather Service is probing a possible tornado that destroyed a farm in New Jersey.

The tornado skipped along a path approximately 2.8 miles long. One barn and one residence were damaged. In addition, there were numerous trees down with the tops sheared off, according to the National Weather Service.
"Appreciation is extended to the local residents, Warren County Emergency Management, and the New Jersey State Police with their help in this storm survey," according to the NWS.

Tom Smith in White Township says he saw a "twisting black cloud" sweep across his farm before his barn collapsed, according to News12.
"This was no storm," Smith told nj.com in central Warren County. "I saw that black cloud coming across the field and it was turning. It was twisting...I'm so scared right now."

Smith said he was alone on the 20-acre former dairy farm that now has only four cows and a couple of horses. The barn was blown over, and trees and poles were sheared, according to nj.com.
"The barn is destroyed...It's just like you see in the pictures out West — destroyed it in a matter of one minute. I just dove for whatever I could. There's not much left," he told nj.com.
The weather pattern was part of a day of storms that knocked out power to tens of thousands and pushed down trees in front of Gov. Chris Christie's Mendham Township home.
