Project Phix Philadelphia - A Youth Education Initiative

A newly created community service project seeking volunteers to donate school supplies for underprivileged students in Philadelphia.

Brittany Rickard and the Elks National Foundation will launch Project Phix Philadelphia in late February. The Elks National Foundation presented their Cornerstone Community Service Grant to Brittany as an opportunity for her to start her own community service project regarding any social issue. Project Phix Philadelphia is her initiative to promote a higher quality of education for elementary school students in South West Philadelphia by collecting school supplies that will be personally donated to these students over the summer. Collections are currently set up in Elks Lodge #2392, 1138 Valley Road in Stirling; Priscilla’s Pantry, 534 Lyons Road in Basking Ridge; and the Postal Annex, 411 King George Road #101 in Basking Ridge. Residents are invited to donate school supplies, backpacks, children’s books, new or lightly used back to school clothes, and gift cards to stores such as Walmart or Target. Donations should be brought to one of the bins at the collection site by May 15th, 2016 and from there, donations will be personally delivered to a local elementary school in South West Philadelphia. For more information about Project Phix Philadelphia, contact Brittany Rickard at brittanyrickard8@gmail.com.
