Protestors Gather At Frelinghuysen Town Hall
A group of 15 people held signs outside of Congressman Frelinghuysen's town hall event on Saturday in Bernards.
U.S. House of Representatives Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen was not received warmly by all on Saturday, June 26 at his Town Hall meeting at Ridge High School. A group of 15 protestors gathered outside the event to express their feelings about the BP oil spill and Frelinghuysen's actions.
In a statement released by Democratic challenger Douglas Herbert, the protestors were said to have been, "carrying signs that read "Scrub Rodney out of Congress," "Invest in the Future, Not Big Oil." and "Represent Us, Not BP."
A recent recent report from the nonpartisan, non-profit Center For Responsive Politics concluded that Congressman Frelinghuysen owns between $50,000 to $100,000 in BP stock, irking some local voters. Frelinghuysen is alleged to be one of seven congressmen who own more than $15,000 of BP stock.
