PSE&G said the exercise helped reinforce critical skills, communication protocols, and decision-making processes that are essential during an actual emergency.
PSE&G also said drills like this support community readiness through ongoing training, collaboration, and shared learning among utility personnel and emergency responders.
The utility identified several themes from the exercise, including a focus on the safety of community members, first responders, and utility personnel while maintaining a high level of preparedness.
PSE&G said the training also gave employees and emergency response partners realistic opportunities to reinforce safe work practices and effective decision-making.
Another goal of the drill was to build on existing partnerships with local agencies and first responders to support coordinated responses during emergencies, according to PSE&G.
The utility also said the exercise allowed participating organizations to evaluate procedures and identify opportunities to improve readiness.
"At PSE&G, safety is our core value. Training alongside our local first responder partners helps reinforce the coordination, communication, and safety practices that are critical during real-world events. The communities we serve are often the same communities where our employees and emergency response partners live, work, and raise their families, making preparedness deeply personal. We value the expertise each participating organization brings to these exercises and the shared focus on protecting our neighbors, strengthening partnerships, and continuously improving our collective readiness," Brian Clark, senior vice president of Gas Operations at PSE&G, said.
