Rare Opportunity To Craft Art From Historic Basking Ridge Oak
Forged In Wood is asking artisans to create works of art out of the wood from the historic Basking Ridge oak tree for an exhibit.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A unique and rare opportunity is being offered to artisans in the area by Forged in Wood to create works of art out of the wood from the historic Basking Ridge oak tree that was cut down in 2017.
If selected, artists will be invited to choose the wood they would like to work with and are requested to return with their finished piece by May 9. The finished pieces will be featured in an exhibition called New Life For The Old Oak on Saturday, May 16.
Artists are not limited to a specific theme but pieces should be of an artistic nature and showcase the natural beauty of the wood.

Applications are due by Sunday and selected artists will be notified on Friday, March 20.
Basking Ridge residents and owners of Forged in Wood, Keith Keiling and David Schneck, have been honoring the tree by milling usable lumber to create memorial pieces for locals to purchase. Now they are looking for artisans to help out.
