RHS Architecture Class

Students at RHS learn about concrete in architecture class.

Students in Mr. Mark Dotta's Architecture class have had the amazing experience of learning about one of the most important building materials of all time... concrete! The class explored the uses of concrete in the world around us, how concrete is made, the ingredients and the different factors that play into its strengths and limitations.

A variety of samples were made, where the students mixed various ratios of cement, aggregate, sand and water. Samples were let to cure over a span of 1 week and 1 month, where test results would be compared respectively. The samples were tested in a hydraulic press, producing results of up to 2,600 PSI or the equivalent of 3.25 US Tons!

Check out the pictures below of students mixing samples and testing. See more at https://mrdotta.blogspot.com
