Ridge High Schhol Art Exhibit at the EEC
"Nobodies Watching," an exhibit of drawings, paintings, photography, and sculpture

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge will host “Nobodies Watching,” an exhibit of drawings, paintings, photography, and sculpture created by Ridge High School art students. The exhibit will be on display from Saturday, February 9 through Sunday, March 10, 2019, seven days a week from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. except Lincoln’s Birthday and President’s Day. Admission is free.
To counter the practice of “you know, pave paradise and put up a parking lot,” students delved into the vast potential for activism and art as it relates to the environment. Taking a cue from the Great Swamp and the successful grassroots campaign that prevented its destruction from becoming a massive jetport project, students researched environmental concerns for this exhibition. The work is an example of how artwork can be immediate or can recur as events link over time. “Nobodies Watching” explores the role of artist and works of art as a catalyst for social and political change.
A reception with the students will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
