Ridge High School Club in raising awareness about lung cancer

Legwork for Lungs 5K and Mile Walk - 4th annual event, Sunday, November 5th, 2017, Basking Ridge. Benefit lung cancer research at the MSKCC.

At 10:00 AM on Sunday, November 5th, a group of runners will

take off for the 4th annual Legwork for Lungs 5k Run & 1Mile
Walk. This event, organized entirely by Ridge High School
students, has raised over $20,000 for lung cancer research at
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center since 2014. You can
register online by November 4th at www.legworkforlungs.org, or
come sign up on the same day. Held during Lung Cancer Awareness
Month, the 5k is attracts competitive runners and families
alike, with the event awarding 500 points for the USATF Grand
Prix and including a Tug-of-War battle after the run. T-shirts
are guaranteed to all registrants who sign up before October
31st.

This is only one of the many events organized by the Legwork for
Lungs Club at Ridge. Legwork for Lungs is spearheaded by 16 year
old Nastassja Kuznetsova who founded the organization after a
family friend was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. She and
her club members have directed toy drives, science exhibitions,
bake sales, interviews with oncologists, fundraised door to
door, organizing over a dozen events benefiting the hospital
over the past 4 years.
