Ridge High School Forensics Team Wins Villiger Tournament
Ridge Forensics came in first at the prestigious 39th annual Villiger Tournament at St. Joseph's University in Philadephia

The Ridge High School Forensics Team under the direction of Mr. David Yastremski placed first in an impressive field of schools from around the nation at the prestigious 39th annual Villiger Tournament. According to Mr. Yastremski, “This highly competitive, tournament has been renowned for hosting to top teams in the New York Metro area, and from as far away as Florida, since the 1970’s.”
The Ridge team met with success with over 30% of the team making it into the final rounds of competition. On the speech side of the tournament, in the Interpretation Events, Amy Huang and Nabeeha Mamun placed first and third in Declamation. Audrika Chattaraj and Daniel Zhang were both Semifinalists in Original Oratory. In Oral Interpretation, Neha Razak advanced to the Quarterfinal Round, Divya Krishnan advanced to the Semifinal Round, and Sonali Pai placed Second overall. In Programmed Oral Interpretation, Laasya Gaddipati took fourth place.
In the Performance Events, Siddarth Sasane took second place in Dramatic Performance. The team of Sasane and Pai took fifth place in Duo.

In the Limited-Preparation Events, Shriya Kosuru and James Goa made it to the Semifinal Rounds of Extemporaneous Speaking. In Informative Speaking, Ridge dominated the final round with Libah Farooqi, Daniel Zhang, and Audrika Chattarji taking 1st, 2nd, and 5th places respectively.
The Debate Team members advanced to the break rounds of the tournament. Tanvi Namjoshi and Namita Kalghatgi made it to the Quarterfinals in Lincoln-Douglas debate. In Public Forum Debate the teams of Sun and Mamun as well as Raviarasan and Wen advanced to the Octofinal Round.

The Student Congress team member dominated the final round chamber with Injae Lee, Kishan Gandham, Arnav Gupta, Dylan Saini, and Bharat Sanka taking 4th, 5th, 8th and 14th places respectively.
The camaraderie on the team each year is high. Alumni of the team routinely return as judges because they want the students today to benefit from the activity that helped them to be confident in their careers today.
Next on the horizon for the Ridge Forensics Team Schedule are tournaments at Princeton and George Mason Universities, as well as a series of contents in New Jersey.
