Ridge Boys LAX Beats Somerville in Season Opener

Ridge High School boys lacrosse begins spring season with decisive win over Somerville at home in Basking Ridge.

In a home game with plenty of stick action, the Ridge High School Red Devils boys lacrosse team wrapped up their season opener with a 10-2 win over Somerville High School.

Ridge Junior J.T. Palladino (23) scored 5 goals, while goalies Owen Molloy (45) in the first half and T.J. Jones (14) in the second half kept the visiting team to two total.

Head Coach Ken Marsh said that the team headed out for Monday afternoon's opener at Lee Field considering Somerville a pretty tough opponent to face. "They're returning with a lot of players from last year and a bunch of Division One players," Marsh said of Somerville.

"Our defense held it down pretty well," J.T. Palladino said following the win, adding that senior Alec Burckley handled the face-off well.

Despite the good start, Palladino said that the team, now 1-0, is going to have to "come out strong" against North Hunterdon High School in an away game on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
