Ridge Named 515th Best High School In The Nation: U.S. News

Ridge High School ranked very high in the U.S. out of more than 17,800 schools evaluated by U.S. News and World Report for 2022.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Ridge High School once again saw high rankings nationally and across New Jersey, according to the latest report by U.S. News and World Report for 2022.

Ridge High School is the 515th best high school in the nation out of nearly 24,000 high schools across the nation.

It also came in as 23rd best in New Jersey out of 406 schools ranked in the state.

The school moved up its ranking both nationally and in New Jersey from 2021.

The 2022 ranking of best high schools is intended to show how well the nation’s public schools serve all students, regardless of achievement level, by teaching them basic skills and preparing them for college-level work, according to a news release from U.S. News.

Families can also use the rankings to see how schools compare at the national, state and local levels on factors such as graduation rates and college readiness.

Several other Somerset County high schools also made the list for the top 100 in New Jersey. Below are where they ranked in NJ and the school's name:

  • 23. Ridge High School, Bernards Township School District, Basking Ridge
  • 25. Montgomery High School, Montgomery Township School District, Skillman
  • 32. Central Jersey College Prep Charter School, Central Jersey College Prep Charter School, Somerset
  • 55. Bernards High School, Somerset Hills Regional School District, Bernardsville
  • 71. Hillsborough High School, Hillsborough Township Public School District, Hillsborough
  • 80. Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School, Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District, Bridgewater
  • 107. Watchung Hills Regional High School, Watchung Hills Regional High School District,

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia, was ranked No. 1 in the nation, as well as among magnet schools.

This year’s schools were ranked on six measures: college readiness, college curriculum breadth, state assessment performance, state assessment proficiency, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, underserved student performance and graduation rates.
