Ridge Senior Molly Perdek awarded 2017 Ridge Alumni Memorial Scholarship

Ridge High senior Molly Perdek will be awarded the 2017 Ridge Alumni Memorial Scholarship at Ridge High’s Awards Night on May 30. The award recognizes character and determination. At $15,000, this year’s scholarship is the largest in the award’s 11-year history.

“Molly’s application was a great fit for our selection criterion,” according to Jane Cullinan, a founding member of Ridge AMS. “Our award is unusual in recognizing applicants’ character, determination and non-traditional achievements, rather than grades or test scores. Surviving 18 brain surgeries and emerging an optimistic, pro-active young woman certainly qualifies Molly as an exceptional candidate.”

Ridge AMS winners are encouraged to use their award for any purpose that contributes to their personal growth. Molly responded to her award by saying, “I am overwhelmed, and so grateful.” She intends to assist her family with her medical expenses, and hopes use some funds to travel abroad during her college career.

Cullinan added, “For the last few years, Ridge AMS has been the largest scholarship at Ridge Awards night, other than scholarships to specific colleges.
