Smoke Alarm Wakes Resident To House Fire In Basking Ridge
The fire broke out in the kitchen of the home during the early morning hours of Friday, said police.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A smoke alarm woke up a sleeping resident to a fire in their Liberty Corner home, preventing any injuries on Friday morning, said police.
At around 3:35 a.m., a fire was reported at a home on Knollcroft Road, which appears to have started in the kitchen.
The homeowner woke up to the fire alarm and tried to use a fire extinguisher, but was unabe to put the fire out, said Bernards Township Police Sgt. Steven Matthews to Patch.

No injuries were reported.
The Fire Marshall will investigate to determine the cause, but a preliminary investigation suggests burnt food in the toaster is the cause, said Matthews.

The Liberty Corner Fire Company, the Veterans Affairs Fire Department, and Bernardsville Fire Co. No. 1 & First Aid Squad helped to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters were at the fire for about an hour, said the Bernardsville fire department.
The house is currently uninhabitable.
