SOMERVILLE, NJ – Due to the pandemic and Hurricane Ida, many Somerset County families are struggling to make ends meet. Residents can help feed their neighbors in need this Thanksgiving by donating $45 or any amount to the 12th annual Adopt-A-Family program. According to the New Jersey Department of Health, in 2019 approximately 17,000 Somerset County residents were food insecure before COVID and Ida.

Last year Adopt-A-Family raised almost $55,000, which helped provide almost 1,200 people with a Thanksgiving meal. This Thanksgiving, participating organizations hope to feed more families through the help of generous Somerset County residents who donate through the Adopt-A-Family program.

Residents who would like to donate can send a check, money order, or donate online to any participating organization. Checks should be postmarked by Saturday, Nov. 20. Donors who pay by check should write Adopt-A-Family on the memo line of their check and enclose a completed Adopt-A-Family donation form with the check. Click here to print an Adopt-A-Family form.
