Somerset County Revamps Historic Sites List

A guide is now available online.

An online guide to Somerset County historic sites that are open to the public has been revamped with updated text and new photos.

The historic sites listing has been reorganized by municipality and many of the descriptions have been updated.  There are 28 new sites, including train stations, and 30 new photos.

In Bernards Township, six sites are included in the guide: The Brick Academy, Boudinot-Southard-Ross Farmstead, Kennedy-Martin-Stelle Farmstead, Lord Stirling Manor and the Lyons Train Station.

Interested viewers can access this guide by clicking on the Tourism button at the top of the county's homepage at www.co.somerset.nj.us or at www.beachcomber.com/Somerset/Public/histor.ht.

"This comprehensive guide to Somerset County's rich history is a handy resource for educators, students, historians, media and the general public," said Freeholder Patrick Scaglione, liaison to the county Cultural & Heritage Commission, which compiled the information and photos.
