Somerset County's Operation Secure Shred To Be Held On May 16
The shredding event is scheduled for Saturday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

BRIDGEWATER – Are your private documents piling up? Somerset County Freeholder Melonie Marano, public works liaison, urges residents to take advantage of the Operation Secure Shred program. Shred personal documents for free and without a hassle on Saturday, May 16, at the Somerset County Public Works Garage North County Facility, located at 411 Chimney Rock Road, Bridgewater, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until the trucks are filled. The event is held rain or shine.

To comply with social distancing guidelines, residents must wear facial coverings and should be prepared to unload their items, but staff will be available to help if necessary. Residents can watch while their documents are shredded.
“Trained, licensed and bonded document-destruction specialists will commercially shred documents safely, privately and properly,” said Freeholder Marano. "We are glad that Somerset County can collaborate with municipalities, so that we can provide this valuable and free service to our residents.”

Proof of residency is required (a current driver's license, valid lease, tax bill or any other bill with a Somerset County address). Pre-registration is not required. No businesses or commercial vehicles are allowed.
Residents may bring up to six boxes, containers or bags of documents per visit and will be asked to take back their receptacles. Junk mail, magazines and newspapers will not be accepted. Staples and paperclips do not have to be removed.
Residents from all 21 Somerset County municipalities can attend as many shredding events, as they wish, and can participate even if they do not reside in the towns that are holding the events. To view a list of shredding events, visit www.co.somerset.nj.us/shredding.
