Somerset Hills YMCA Sets Up Shop To Help Every Girl Go To Prom
More than 250 donated prom dresses will be available for all girls in Somerset County to wear.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Somerset Hills YMCA and Warren Girl Scout Troop 65918 are making sure every high school girl has a chance to go to prom regardless of their economic background.
On Friday, March 8 the Somerset Hills YMCA in Basking Ridge will have more than 250 prom dresses available that were collected by the Girl Scouts. The new or gently worn donated dresses come in a variety of colors, styles and lengths, from short off-the-shoulder cuts to long, flowing gowns. All sizes will be available.
This is the first year the Somerset Hills YMCA is doing this event, yet they have had a history of working with the scouts.

David Carcieri, president and CEO of Somerset Hills YMCA thought this was a great opportunity to give back to the community.
"We thought it was great because prom dresses can be very expensive, and we want to ensure every girl has an opportunity to go to their prom," Carcieri said. "There is a stigma of not having the right thing to wear where it might prevent young women from going to prom."
