Songbird Gives Back to the Community on Thanksgiving Weekend
The Songbird Volunteer Youth Group thanks their community for everything as they clean the roads for their Adopt-A-Road program!
Thanksgiving is a time to show gratitude to all those around you and everyone who contributed to your life. During this weekend, the Songbird Volunteer Youth Group gathered to conduct their street cleanup for the adopt-a-road program as a way of giving back to their community. The Songbird members split into two groups and each conquered a side of the sidewalk, picking up all the trash from Ridge High School to the Town Center. Items ranged from common items such as cigarette butts and old napkins to more surprising objects, such as tennis balls and styrofoam containers. With their new magnetic trash grabbers and leather gloves, the members and parents were able to fill two entire trash bags along the way.
Not only was this a great way to give back to the community, but it was also a great way for these members to get together this weekend. With some members coming back from college and others coming from other towns, it filled everyone’s heart to see their friends again. The streets were filled with laughter as everyone had a chance to enjoy the outdoors after typical days of sitting at desks working and studying. Songbird hopes that in the future, they can continue this tradition during this weekend dedicated to giving thanks and continue spreading this warm feeling around the community despite this cold weather.
