Stop The Quarry Plan To Celebrate Victory

Friends of Stop the Quarry Plan (STQP)​ in Basking Ridge are celebrating the rejection of the redevelopment plan on Feb. 28.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Friends of Stop the Quarry Plan (STQP) in Basking Ridge will be hosting a celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 28 following the rejection of the controversial Quarry Redevelopment Concept Plan.

The draft plan had called for a hotel, 235 housing units, restaurants, retail stores, a farm and a lake at the privately-owned Millington Quarry property. (See Related: Basking Ridge Rejects Quarry Plan)

The group will be celebrating achieving two of the three STQP goals.

"We not only stopped the proposed Redevelopment Plan, we also overturned the Redevelopment Zone Designation, which left our town's current Master Plan in place," STQP stated.

The last of STQP's goals is to make sure the site is safe from contamination.

"Let's stay together as a community and meet neighbors and new friends. This is what Bernards Township is all about," STQP said.

The celebration will be held at 7 p.m. at Dead River Pub inside Hotel Indigo at 80 Allen Road in Basking Ridge. There will be a cash bar. To RSVP click here.
