Power Outages, Downed Trees Remain In Somerset County Following Storm

Some road closures remain on Tuesday morning due to downed trees, utility poles and power lines in Somerset County.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A storm bringing high winds, rain and isolated thunderstorms hit the Somerset County area on Monday night and left power outages and downed trees and utility poles on Tuesday morning.

As of 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday, more than 1,000 JCP&L and 150 PSE&G customers remain without power.

The majority of the JCP&L outages are reported in the northern are of Somerset County specifically in Bernardsville, Bernards Township, Bedminster and Peapack and Gladstone. Other towns including Bridgewater, Hillsborough, Branchburg, Warren and Far Hills also are reporting outages. JCP&L did not give an estimated restoration time.

PSE&G also reported 140 customers in Mongtomery without power. An estimated restoration time is 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Additionally, road closures are being reported on Tuesday due to downed trees. In Hillsborough a downed tree is reported in the area of 462 Long Hill Road and Dutchtown Zion Road.

In Bedminster, Pottersville Road between Route 206 and Black River Road is closed due to multiple downed utility poles and wires.

In Bernardsville, avoid Dryden Road between Turnbull and the county line. The road is shut down due to power lines down.
