Suicide Prevention Training Available In Bernards Township
These virtual sessions aim to reduce suicidal behaviors by teaching participants how to question, persuade, and refer any suicidal people.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township residents can access free QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention Trainings.
The Bernards Township Municipal Alliance and the Bernards Township Health Department are partnering with EmPoWER Somerset to provide the training.
The QPR program aims to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives. It provides practical and proven suicide prevention training. Participants learn three steps to help prevent suicide.

The training covers how to question, persuade, and refer someone who may be suicidal. It also teaches how to get help for oneself or learn more about preventing suicide.
Key components include understanding common causes of suicidal behavior and identifying warning signs of suicide. Participants will also learn how to get help for someone in crisis.

This training is free for anyone over the age of 18. It is designed for individuals interested in learning suicide prevention techniques.
Two virtual training options are available. Both sessions will cover the same material. Participants will receive a Zoom link via email after they register.
The first training is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. To register, click here.
