Summer Programs at the Environmental Education Center

Programs for ages 4 to 6; 7 to 913 to 16

The Naturalists at the Environmental Education Center (EEC) have planned another summer of entertaining and educational activities for children and teens.

Coyote Kids is a nature adventure for children ages 4 to 6 with a different theme for each five-day series that run Monday to Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon. Programs schedule includes:

hands-on activities, games, crafts, and water play focusing on a different habitat each day. Fee is $125 per child.

Eco-Explorers, ages 7 to 9, offers a series of four one-week and two two-week summer sessions of day-long programming exploring nature and science through hiking, canoeing, games, crafts, and exciting day trips. The programs run from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday.

Mystery in the Swamp - Monday, June 19 to Friday, June 23

Explorers will strengthen observation skills and use their senses to

explore interesting and historical parts of Lord Stirling Park. Fee is $360

per person.

Program

Most Extreme Earth - Two-Week Session Monday, July 3 to Friday,

July 14 (No program Tuesday, July 4)

Explorers will venture to the highest and lowest, hottest and coldest places

on Earth while researching the fastest and slowest, biggest and tiniest,

smelliest and most beautiful living things that this planet has to offer. Fee

is $648 per person.

Forest Fanatics - Monday, July 31 to Friday, August 4

Explorers will become forest ecologists, exploring the relationships

between plants and animals in the woods of the Great Swamp. Each day

will focus on a different habitat within the swamp and discover how the

plants and animals are adapted to live there. Fee is $360 per person.

Junior Naturalists - Monday, August 7 to Friday, August 11

Explorers will hike, track, and explore gaining identification skills and

learning what it is like to be a Naturalist. This week-long adventure will have pond studies, bug collecting, tracking, and more! Fee is $360 per person.

“Xtreme Adventure” is a summer-long series of one-day outdoor programs (with one overnight scheduled) for teens age 13 to 16

Stand Up Paddling - Wednesday, June 28 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.

Campers will meet a professional at Spruce Run Reservoir for a proper lesson and guided excursion. Fee is $150 per student.

White Water Rafting - Saturday, July 8 from 8:00 A.M. to 8:30 P.M.

Campers will experience class II+ bigtime whitewater fun! Mom or dad can share the thrills and chills. Fee is $300 per pair/$150 per additional teen.

Waterfalls - Wednesday, July 12 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.

Campers will explore various hiking trails that will lead to hidden

waterfalls. Fee is $50 per student.

Hike and Swim - Wednesday, July 19 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.

Campers will hike a section of the Appalachian Trail, walking in the footsteps of numerous famous hikers while learning the proper technique for following trail markers.. Fee is $50 per student.

Kayak - Wednesday, July 26 from 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Adventurers will head south to the New Jersey Pine Barrens to learn how to wet exit a kayak, discover proper kayak strokes, and finally put the skills to the test. Fee is $75 per student.

Rock Climb - Wednesday, August 2 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.

Adventurers will journey to the Shawangunks in the Catskill Mountain Range to meet a licensed climbing guide and hike a short distance to the rocks. Fee is $200 per person.

Sedge Island Overnight - Depart Tuesday, August 8 at 8:00 A.M.

Return Wednesday, August 9 at 5:30 P.M.

Campers will journey to an isolated section of New Jersey’s largest estuary, Barnegat Bay for kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, birding, clamming, and star gazing. Fee is $225 per student.
