Teen Armed With Knife, Charged In Carjacking In Somerset County
A 16-year old went into a Far Hills woman's garage, showed a knife and demanded her keys before lunging at her, police said.
FAR HILLS, NJ — A 16-year-old was charged after police say he was armed with a knife and lunged at a Far Hills woman in her garage during a carjacking, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
On June 10 at about 9:18 p.m., a 38-year-old woman of the Polo Club condominium complex in Far Hills called police reporting an attempted carjacking.

Far Hills Police found a man matching the description given by the woman in the train station parking lot. While being questioned, the teen tried to flee from officers, said Robertson.
He was caught following a brief foot chase and then used physical force to free his hands in an attempt to avoid being arrested by officers, said Robertson.

The teen was charged with carjacking (first-degree), burglary (second-degree), obstructing administration of law (disorderly persons offense), and resisting arrest (disorderly persons offense).
The teen was taken to the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center pending a family court appearance.
